The City of Detroit is making wonderful strides in redevelopment. However, there is still a great need in our communities. Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church has been a beacon of light in the community since 1921! Over the past 103 years "The Grove," as it is affectionately called, has been at the forefront in the community by providing food, health and nutrition support as well as clothing, educational opportunities, life skills and numerous other resources that empower lives and uplift the Detroit community. As a community partner, Oak Grove regularly hosts events along with our regular services at our facility. Over the past several years, we have made significant updates to our parking lot, ADA ramp, and roof with several important building modifications still needed.
On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Oak Grove will host its "Cruise to Impact" mid-day brunch on the Ovation Yacht in an effort to raise funds to continue the work. We would greatly appreciate your support in pledging to be a Partner and support the overall mission of this worthwhile community campaign.
Our cruise will feature music by Detroit's own Kimmie Horne and her quartet. A DJ will be on board along with great food and fellowship. We sail at 12 p.m. sharp from the Jefferson Beach Marina.
